Make your next family photo memorable and stunning with these fashionable spring outfits! Choose from fresh colors and eye-catching styles to ensure everyone looks their best, so you can cherish the moment for years.
When it comes to spring family outfits, it's essential to consider how you will display your family photos in your home. These images can be a key element in your interior design, so planning ahead is essential. Before choosing outfits for your spring family photo session, look around the rooms where you plan to hang your portraits. Consider the style of your decor and make sure your clothing choices complement the overall look and feel of the space. We do this during our Design Consultation once you book your family session at Courtney Ranck-Copher Photography. But before we meet, read on to get spring fashion inspiration for the whole family.
Layered Neutrals
This crisp combination makes the whole family look stylish and timelessly classic. Choose layered pieces in shades such as gray, beige, navy blue, and white. Team them with a classic white button-down or a henley shirt for the guys. For some quick spring family photo inspiration, check out my Pinterest board.
Perfect Pants
Denim is always a classic choice for family spring photos. While jeans come in all colors, choose lighter denim, such as pale blue and white, to rock that spring vibe. Avoid skinny, boot-cut, and bell bottoms (even though they are back in style). Straight-leg jeans will NEVER go out of style, so your family photos will look ageless. Khaki’s are the quintessential pant for the guys too. Pair that distinctive chino with a belt for an effortless yet sophisticated look. Speaking of men’s fashion, there are more tips in the next section.
Dapper-Chic for the Guys
Add a touch of sophistication to family photoshoots with timeless tailoring. Entirely suited or mix-and-matched pieces provide the perfect masculine look for the guys, including your “little men,” too! Classic tweed jackets, crisp white shirts, and intelligent khaki perfectly balance elegant chic. Accessorizing with bow ties and pocket squares will give the family photo a hint of vintage-inspired style without feeling dated for an additional touch of class. Elegant and Fresh for the Ladies
Oh, how we love that spring dress! The classic sundress is a must for Mom & daughter. Here are a few things to check before buying a new one for your photo session. If you are going to make a pattern (be it in a dress or a shirt), make sure only one person has the print on. Your dresses also need to be long enough so that when you sit down, it doesn’t ride up further than about 5 inches above the knee. Again same length for the “little ladies.” A sheath dress is a stylish choice that will always be in. Opt for a cream to keep your images sophisticated into the future. Make sure that dresses aren’t see-through. Linen as a fabric photographs beautifully. Even though it can be a little finicky with the wrinkles and sheerness, if you want to wear linen, press the garment so you can’t see through it.
So what about this spring’s trends?
I hear you, mom. You are the fashionista. You knew that “Viva Magenta” was 2023’s Pantone color of the year before I knew there was such a thing. You follow all the Instagram fashion accounts and maybe even post your #OOTD consistently. Let’s step back and address (see what I did there 😉) how trends photograph. Most trends scream the era when the photos were taken, so we want to incorporate them artfully and sparingly, if at all.
Trendy colors can be featured in lipstick, sandals, pocket squares, hats, necklaces, or other accessories.
Trendy patterns should be kept to a minimum. Only one person should wear a pattern, preferably a small design and nothing bold. Remember, your family photos should look eternal, not temporary. If it’s on trend, it will go out of style. Do not regret any fashion missteps.
