This past senior session with Landon was incredibly special for me in so many ways. Not only is Landon graduating from my alma mater, Shadle Park High School, where I graduated back in 1994, but I also have a long history with his family. It was truly a full-circle moment to capture such a milestone for him.
Landon is an athlete through and through. He runs the 800 meters and cross country for Shadle Park, so it made perfect sense to start his session on the school’s track. There’s something magical about photographing seniors in the spaces that have shaped them, and for Landon, this track is where he’s spent countless hours pushing himself to new limits. We also ventured to one of Spokane’s iconic spots, the Bowl and Pitcher, a place Landon loves to jog. The natural beauty of the area, with its rugged rock formations and flowing river, was the perfect backdrop for this phase of his life.
But the session didn’t stop there. We headed to his family’s property, which holds its own unique treasures. One of the highlights was photographing Landon in front of their incredible red barn and—get this—an old train car! It was such a unique and picturesque setting, providing a rustic and timeless feel. And the cream-colored grasses surrounding the property were simply stunning. We decided to capture these moments in monochrome, and to top it all off, Landon’s adorable dog, Koda, made a star appearance. The combination of the natural textures and Koda’s presence made for some truly heartfelt images.
One of my favorite parts of senior sessions is capturing the bond between the graduate and their mom. This time was especially meaningful because Landon’s mom and I go way back. We worked together at Ringo’s Casino, where I was a waitress, and I had the honor of photographing her wedding almost 10 years ago. I remember Landon from that day—he was around 8 years old at the time, and now here he is, all grown up, looking like a model!
It’s incredible how time flies, and watching Landon reach this important moment was a reminder of how precious these milestones are. Thank you, Landon, for allowing me to capture your journey from Shadle Park student to graduate. I can’t wait to see where your next steps take you!
If you’re a senior or the parent of a senior, now is the time to book your own session and create lasting memories that will mark this incredible time in your life. Let’s capture the essence of who you are in the places that mean the most to you.
