Generations after us will get to learn of our journey long after we are gone...
Our story in this world is everlasting and creates a ripple through the existence of who we are and the effect we had on others while we are here. It’s a fact we don’t think about that often and when we do the reality is amazing. I love when clients understand that documenting themselves and the ones they love is an intricate part of the human experience. That generations after us will get to learn of our journey long after we are gone, ( well if we give them the tools they need).
Graduates had so much taken from them and to see them rally and document themselves makes my heart soar.
This past year was very different for graduates across the globe. History books will mention what had happened but not give personal accounts to those who lived through it. I love the fact that many graduates and their parents didn’t let Covid steal the joy away from them by not having graduation images taken. That amongst all the uncertainty that preserving this time in their lives was still very much an important part. In fact even more so. Graduates had so much taken from them and to see them rally and document themselves makes my heart soar.
She came dressed to kill!
Kaitlyn Chelsey did not disappoint at her session and was even coached by her mom (Tamara Chelsey) on how to move and pose before her session. I typically am the one who shows graduates how to stand and move for the images being captured but found I only needed to do some slight tweaking. Before the session, I spoke with Kaitlin and got to know her better, and found out that she describes herself as an extroverted introvert (which I can relate to since I'm very much the same way), and most of the time she loves to just be hanging out in sweats and other comfortable clothes. And although she did tell me she loves to dress up for photos I was pleasantly surprised when she came dressed to kill!
Clearly, I wasn't the only one who thought so. Thank goodness there weren't any car accidents!
When I saw Kaitlyn's blue eyes and that her sash matched them I just knew I had to do this shot. She was very gracious and didn't hesitate when I asked if she would mind lying down (she was in all white) you can imagine how this could have gone epically wrong. But the results are stunning. How could they not be, just look at that face!
It's no secret that the Terrell library is a must-have shot for all graduating seniors it's an iconic structure with stunning blue-green glass. So it was a no-brainer to shoot here especially with Kaitlyn's eye color.
WSU has such a beautiful campus it's an amazing place to spend a day.
One of my favorite things about this session apart from how amazing both she and her mom were was the fact that I got to photograph and a few different areas that I hadn't gotten to before during a senior session. I love getting unique images and locations as well as all-time favorites. WSU has such a beautiful campus it's an amazing place to spend a day. Truly no need to go anywhere else.
I had so many stunning images of Kaitlyn I had a hard time sorting through all the images and picking my favorites. In the end, I ended up delivering way more images than is in a standard session. Bonus for Kaitlyn!
Congratulations Kaitlyn on your Psychology and Human Development Degree! We know it wasn't easy this last year, but you did it! you got through the chaos of 2020, and you did it with grace and style!
